Aldo Sandoval-Hernández, PhD

Hello,

My name is Aldo Sandoval-Hernández. I have a PhD in Economics from the University of Western Ontario. Currently, I am an economist at Global Affairs Canada. Before that, I was a Resarch Fellow at the UK Trade Policy Observatory at the University of Sussex.

My research interests are on International Trade, Economic Geography and Spatial Econometrics. In particular, I focus on the dynamics of new exporters, firm-level responses to external shocks, evaluation of transportation infrastructure and modelling of spatial autocorrelation.

I have plenty of experience solving and estimating heterogeneous agent models of firm dynamics, estimating spatial econometric models, and implemeting bootstraping methods. More recently, I have been incorporating text mining, text analysis, natural language processing and deep learning into my research.
